Hotel Review: Green World Zhonghua, Taiwan

Traveling to Taiwan has never been easier for Filipinos, thanks to the visa-free entry policy that allows up to 14 days of hassle-free travel until July 31, 2025. Given Taiwan’s proximity to the Philippines (Batanes is actually closer to Taiwan than it is to Manila!), it’s no surprise that more and more Filipinos are adding Taiwan to their travel plans. During our recent trip to Taiwan, we stayed at Green World Zhonghua, a contemporary hotel in the heart of Taipei’s Ximending district.

Our Experience at Green World Zhonghua, Taiwan

We initially booked a Superior Twin Room with City View, which featured large windows that allowed natural light to fill the space. The room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a fridge, an in-room safe, and a private bathroom.

Here’s a quick rundown of what the room included:

  • Room facilities: A desk, a sofa, a drying rack for clothes, an electric kettle, a fridge, towels, and a telephone.
  • In the bathroom: Free toiletries, toilet paper, slippers, a hairdryer, and a toilet with an electric bidet.

But to our surprise, we were upgraded (yay!) to a Deluxe Double Room with City View, which was an even better fit for us.

The upgraded room came with more space and featured the same essentials, but the highlight was definitely the small bathtub. It’s a great perk, especially since Audrey loved soaking in it after a long day. The electric bidet in the bathroom, with seat-warming and warm water features, was another little luxury that added to the comfort of our stay.

The view of the city from our window was a nice touch, and the room had a clean, snuggly feel that made us rest after a day of sightseeing.

Despite a delay in our flight, we arrived just in time for our check-in. Although we initially planned to drop off our luggage before the check-in time, the smooth and easy check-in process made up for it. The staff was welcoming, spoke good English, and explained everything clearly. A TWD 1,000 deposit is required at check-in, which will be refunded within 7-14 days after checkout, depending on your credit card provider.

As breakfast was included in our booking, we were also given a breakfast coupon for our stay.

Breakfast at Green World Zhonghua, Taiwan

One of the things we looked forward to each morning was the self-serve breakfast. Breakfast runs from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

For our four-day stay, we enjoyed:

  • Local dishes like rice with braised pork, miso soup, soy soup, and porridge.
  • Fruits, including apples, pomelos, and bananas.
  • A small salad bar and a cereal bar with milk.
  • A selection of bread with spreads like butter, strawberry, and blueberry jams.
  • Dumplings like siomai, siopao, and mantao.
  • Meats such as ham and sausage, along with stir-fried vegetables.
  • Coffee and juice to round out the meal.

The breakfast was consistently good and gave us the energy needed for our daily adventures around Taipei.

Eco-Friendly Practices

One thing that really stood out to us during our stay was the hotel’s commitment to reducing waste. They don’t automatically hand out disposable items such as slippers, toothbrushes, and other toiletries. Instead, guests can get these items if needed. We appreciate this effort to reduce unnecessary waste, which aligns well with sustainable travel practices.

Housekeeping did a great job keeping the room clean daily, replacing towels, and maintaining the space without being excessive.
