HOMEY AND CLASSY: ‘Staycation’ picks in Metro Manila

As a child, I always get excited when school year ends because this mean we’ll be going out of town very soon. I can already imagine the beach, palm trees, sand, sea and sun. That’s my traditional summer vacation.

But when the 2nd millennium came, the idea of “vacation” was somehow transformed. Now, one can take a break without any salt in the air or sand in the hair. No need to go that far away too. The idea of ‘staycation’ was slowly introduced.

‘Staycation’, as the name suggests “Stay-at-home-vacation”.

What is ‘staycation’?

A vacation spent in one’s home country rather than abroad, or one spent at home and involving day trips to local attractions. (Defined by Oxford Dictionaries)

I once heard ‘staycation’ from a friend. She and her family spent a weekend in EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, which is 30 minutes away from their home. It was a rainy weekend in August. It’s not yet near summer neither they’re celebrating any occasion. It was a just break from the usual routine.

We all need this relaxing weekend without ripping off your pocket. So below are my picks for ‘staycation’ hotels in the metro.
