Review: Costa de Angelo Beach Resort – An Affordable and Family-Friendly Stay Near Hundred Islands, Pangasinan

Visiting Hundred Islands National Park has always been on my travel bucket list, and recently, I finally made it happen. Finding a budget-friendly and family-friendly accommodation near Hundred Islands was a top priority, and that’s when I came across Costa de Angelo Beach Resort in Alaminos, Pangasinan.

This beachfront resort is just a few steps away from Bolo Beach—one of the starting points for the Hundred Islands tour. While many tourists opt for the more popular Lucap Wharf, staying at Costa de Angelo means you can start your island-hopping adventure right in front of the resort!

Getting to Costa de Angelo Beach Resort

Coming from Manila, the trip to Alaminos took quite some time, and by the time we arrived, it was already late at night. If you’re commuting, getting here can be a bit tricky since you’ll need to take a tricycle from the town proper, which can cost around ₱300-₱500.

One thing that surprised me was the road leading to the resort. To get there, we had to drive on the side of the beach—which made us nervous at first, thinking our car might get stuck in the sand. Fortunately, the locals assured us that it was safe.

Parking is available inside the resort, but since they were fully booked during our visit, we had to park right outside the property.

Our experience at Costa de Angelo Beach Resort

Upon arrival, I immediately noticed the small garden that also serves as a parking area. The resort has a terrace, barbecue facilities, and a shared kitchen—perfect if you prefer to cook your own meals.

We booked the Pilgrimage Room, which is good for 6 to 7 people at ₱4,500 per night. The room came with:

  • Air conditioning
  • Spacious beds
  • Mini refrigerator
  • Coffee table
  • Private bathroom with bidet
  • Table and chairs

The rooms were decent—nothing fancy, but enough for a comfortable stay. However, during our first night, there was a power outage in the area, so we ended up sleeping on the rooftop to enjoy the sea breeze. Unfortunately, power outages happened multiple times throughout our 3-night stay. At one point, the air conditioner stopped working, which made things uncomfortable.

Another downside was the low water pressure on the second floor. Also, some guests were blasting loud karaoke music, making it difficult to rest.

Resort amenities and inclusions

Despite the minor inconveniences, the resort does have some perks:
Beachfront location with a viewing deck
Free entrance for checked-in guests
Free parking inside the property
Free access to Bolo Beach
Free use of grilling stations
24/7 solar power electricity (but it didn’t help much during power outages)

🚫 No WiFi – If you rely on internet access, you might have a hard time since there’s no WiFi available.
🚫 No pets allowed

If you need extra bedding, it costs ₱500 per set, which includes a foam mattress, bedsheet, pillow, and blanket.

Booking and policies

Booking is pretty easy—you just have to message them on Facebook. They require a 50% down payment to confirm the reservation, and the remaining 50% is paid upon arrival.

Cancellation policy:

  • If you cancel with a 50% down payment, it is non-refundable.
  • If you cancel after full payment, you can get 50% of your payment back—but only if you cancel at least 7 days before your check-in date.
  • No-show = No refund.

Island hopping and Hundred Islands tour

Since Costa de Angelo is right next to Hundred Islands National Park, you can arrange your island-hopping tour directly from the resort.

Boat rental rates for the Hundred Islands tour:

  • Large Boat (15 pax) – ₱2,400
  • Medium Boat (10 pax) – ₱2,000
  • Small Boat (5 pax) – ₱1,600

Additional Fees:

  • Environmental Fee: ₱120 per person
  • Refundable Garbage Fee: ₱200

They also offer discounted rates for senior citizens, PWDs, and minors. One of the best things about staying here is that the boat picks you up right in front of the resort, so there’s no need to go all the way to Lucap Wharf.

Would I recommend Costa de Angelo?

Honestly, it was a mixed experience.

What I liked:

  • Affordable beachfront stay near Hundred Islands
  • Easy access to Bolo Beach and island-hopping tours
  • Friendly and accommodating staff
  • No corkage fee for food and drinks
  • You can cook your own meals (small gas fee applies)

What could be improved:

  • Frequent power outages (which made it uncomfortable at night)
  • Aircon stopped working during our stay
  • Low water pressure on the second floor
  • No WiFi (which could be a problem for digital nomads or remote workers)
  • Noisy guests with loud karaoke

Would I stay here again?

Maybe not. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly beachfront accommodation near Hundred Islands, Costa de Angelo is a decent option. But if you want a more comfortable and hassle-free experience, it might be worth checking out other resorts in the area.
