The name “Inggo” is a sweet Filipino nickname for Domingo, which is the Spanish version of Dominic. The story behind the name goes back to 1587 when the first 15 Dominicans arrived in the Philippines to start their missions. This bit of history adds a special touch to Café Inggo 1587. It made hthe place rich with cultural significance.

Location with a Story

Café Inggo 1587 is located within the Santo Domingo Church Compound, one of the biggest churches in Metro Manila. The church was originally from Intramuros but after the World War II, they moved to Quezon City.

A Vision Realized

The conception of Café Inggo 1587 involved the collaboration between the Dominican friars and F&B veteran Vic Alcuaz. Initially tasked with finding partners for the project, the friars eventually entrusted Alcuaz to lead the venture, given his wealth of experience in the industry.

Upon entering the café, visitors are greeted by a bright, airy space adorned with historical arts.

Cafe Inggo 1587 Menu

Café Inggo 1587’s menu is created by the talented chef Willy Domingo, who helped open Harana restaurant at EDSA Shangri-La Hotel. He kept things simple and authentic. Guests can enjoy a variety of Filipino and Spanish comfort foods.

It’s a perfect brunch spot for us before hearing the mass. Here are some light meals that we tried –

Caramel Macchiato Latte (Php 165)

Bibingka ni Danda with Salted Egg & White Cheese (Php 190)

Rice “masa” baked and topped with slices of salted egg and carabao cheese

Bread & Butter Pudding (Php 145)

Cutlets of French baguette mixed with cream, butter and eggs, baked golden brown, topped with soft cream and served with a dash of caramel sauce and fruits
