Hotel Review: M Citi Suites

Known as the oldest city in Philippines, Cebu city is now classified as a first class highly urbanized city from the South. It’s a hub of many international companies from industries like BPO, IT, Advertising, Communication and more.

Despite being a bustling metropolis, it has still preserved its historical character. No wonder this is a great choice for weekend warriors like us. What I also love about visiting here is – getting room for a night is fairly easy. We only booked it an hour before our flight! Good thing, most of the accommodations here can be booked thru www.Booking.com – one of them is M Citi Suites.

How to get there

Once you arrived in Cebu, go directly to the taxi bay area and hail a cab to M Citi Suites.
It will take around 30-40 minutes (No traffic) to get there.
Taxi fare ranges from Php 150 to 200 pesos.

Distance: 14 km away from airport.

Our Experience

When Abby and I celebrated her birthday in Cebu, we did not have a solid plan in mind. I have been there before (way back 2010 when my company sent me there) and I told her that there are a lot of options so we don’t have to bother. We want to experience a true getaway adventure – just go with the flow and enjoy the journey.

While waiting for our flight to Cebu, she started to check hotels online using www.Booking.com. She found a decent accommodation near Larsian (a popular barbecue dine-in spot in Cebu city). The booking process was easy since one of the features of www.Booking.com is that they will not require you to pay a deposit nor to provide credit card information to book a room.

After arriving at Cebu airport, we immediately proceeded to the taxi bay and hail a cab. With just 14 km away from the airport, it took us around 40 mins to get there.

The hotel receptionist warmly greeted us and discussed the inclusion of our booking. We paid Php 1,600 for 1 night stay & Php 500 security deposit which is also refundable upon check-out.

The Room

Our room is located on the 4th floor. Upon entering the room, we were welcomed by a comfortable queen size bed. The room size is around 25 – 30 sqm, with a private bathroom. It’s not spacious but isn’t that bad anyway. After settling down for a couple of minutes, we went to Larsian to take our dinner. When we got back, we just watch TV before calling it a day.

After breakfast, we went back to our room and prepare. That day, we went to Sirao Farm, Tops Lookout & Temple of Leah. By lunchtime, we went back to the hotel to pack our things and move to a different hotel. Checking out is as easy as checking in. It only took us a couple of minutes to settle things at the front desk.

We stayed in a Standard Room located on the 4th floor for a night.

Features:

  • 1 twin-sized bed
  • Cable TV
  • Free WiFi
  • Writing desk
  • Telephone
  • Toilet and bath with hot and cold shower

What we don’t like inside the room is CR. Though it seems decent, a closer look reveals that faucet and showers needed to be replaced. The tiles looks like it wasn’t cleaned.

Breakfast

We got up early the next day because Abby is really excited with our tour. They served us plated Filipino breakfast – Tapsilog (Beef Tapa, fried egg & garlic rice) and Tocilog (Tocino, fried egg & garlic rice) with juice or coffee. It was more than enough to fill us up with energy for today’s activity.
