Things to do in Liwliwa Zambales

If there’s one beach in Northern Luzon that I always keep coming back to, it’s Liwliwa Zambales. It doesn’t have powdery white sand. It doesn’t have luxury accommodations either. But there’s something about the beach community here that feels warm and welcoming, like you’re part of something.
If you’re planning a trip, here are a few things you can do in Liwliwa Zambales aside from lounging by the beach:

1. Surfing
Liwa is well known among surfers. You can take lessons or just rent a board and paddle out. Instructors are easy to find, and most accommodations even offer their own surfing packages.

2. Waterfalls
Take a quick adventure to Lubong Nangoloan Falls. From Liwa, it’s just a short trike ride plus a 30-minute trek. The trail can be steep so wear good shoes. Once there, enjoy a cool dip in its natural pools. There are other waterfalls nearby too like Sagpat Falls, Capandanan Falls, and Veto Falls.

3. Boxing/Muay Thai/Jiu Jitsu/Circuit Training Class at Bom Dia – Flow 360
If you’re looking for something active, try Boxing/Muay Thai/Jiu Jitsu/Circuit Training classes at Bom Dia Hostel. Classes are beginner-friendly, and the instructors are helpful. Just wear rashguards or workout clothes and be ready for a fun challenge.

4. Football by the Beach
Beach football games happen almost every sunset right in front of Taco Joint. Anyone can join—just show up and play. It’s casual and fun, perfect if you’re into sports or want to make new friends.

5. Yoga
Join a yoga session with Liwa Strength and Movement Crew. Classes are good for beginners and regulars. From slow flows to more intense practices, there’s something for everyone. Other yoga options are also available at Kwentong Dagat for checked-in guests.

6. Skimboarding
Liwa’s shores are a great place for skimboarding. You can bring your own or rent one locally. It’s a fun activity to try even if you’re new to it.

7. Scenic Beach Walks
Take slow walks by the beach, especially during sunrise or sunset. The coastline is wide and clean, and there’s always something calming about hearing the waves while you stroll.

8. Island Hopping
Explore nearby islands like Capones and Anawangin. These tours usually take a full day and can be arranged through your accommodation or local tour providers.

9. Music Night at Greenspace Artist Village, Agos ng Liwa or Riverside
Check out live music sessions at Greenspace Artist Village, Agos ng Liwa, or Riverside. The vibe is laid-back, and the crowd is usually a mix of locals and weekenders. Perfect for an easy night out.

10. Bike Around Town
Rent a bike for only P150 (half-day). Some accommodations have bikes you can borrow or rent. Ride around Liwa and explore at your own pace.

11. Beach Bonfire
For P750 per setup, you can enjoy a beach bonfire at night. Roast marshmallows, share stories, or just enjoy the quiet under the stars.

12. Mapanuepe Lake Tour
This tour costs around P1,500 per head and is often arranged by Gasera de Liwliwa. Locals call it the “New Zealand of Zambales” for its scenic mountain and lake views.

13. Beach Activities
Try water rides like the Airhead (P2,000 for 15 mins, up to 3 pax) or Banana Boat (P2,500 for 15 mins, up to 5 pax). Some resorts offer these, so check with your host.

14. Jetski
Rent a jetski for P3,000 (30 minutes). It’s one of the newer activities in the area, and definitely a fun one.

15. Free Activities
Books and board games are available in most resorts. If you’re looking for a chill day, grab a book and a hammock, and you’re set.
Please avoid using ATVs on the beach.
Liwa is a turtle nesting site, and ATVs disturb their habitat. Let’s all help protect the baby turtles. You can sign the petition here.
So if you’re planning a trip to Liwa Zambales, keep this list handy. It’s more than just a beach, it’s a whole community waiting for you to explore.
