Audrey’s 6th Simple and Sweet Birthday Celebration
Audrey is now 6 years old! Seriously, where did the time go? It feels like we were just celebrating her 1st birthday, and now she’s a sweet, thoughtful, and creative little girl who loves stickers, notebooks, and, of course, playtime.
This year was different. Life has been hectic—I’ve been juggling work and graduate school, and honestly, I wasn’t able to plan a party for Audrey. But instead of stressing out about it, we decided to do something intentional and meaningful: a two-day simple celebration filled with quality time. Here’s how we made Audrey feel special…
Day 1: December 28, 2024 – Audrey’s Birthday Adventure
Since it was her actual birthday, we wanted to do activities that Audrey would enjoy. So, we headed out for a fun, family-filled day!
We started the day with a hearty lunch at Kimono Ken, one of Audrey’s favorite Japanese restaurants. She loves sushi and pork tonkatsu, so it was a must to take her there. It was a chill, cozy meal—just us, enjoying good food and making the birthday girl feel loved.
After lunch, we took Audrey to Cheeky Monkeys Manila, a fun indoor play area inside Met Live. The entrance fee was Php 450 for kids, and Php 200 for an extra adult.
Audrey had an absolute blast! The play area is full of slides, obstacle courses, and toys that kept her entertained for hours.
During our visit, there was a mini activity called Parachute Play. Audrey joined right away, giggling and running with other kids. Seeing her participate and have fun made me so happy—I realized that sometimes, the best birthday gifts are these simple moments of joy.
What’s great about Cheeky Monkeys is that they have a café inside the play area. So, while Audrey was busy playing, Dee and I relaxed with some coffee and snacks. It’s a win-win for both parents and kids!
After playtime, we went to Ayala Malls Manila Bay. Instead of picking out a fancy toy, we asked Audrey what she wanted for her birthday.
Her answer? “Stickers, notebooks, and washi tapes!”
That’s our girl—a creative soul who loves to draw, write, and decorate her notebooks. We spent some time browsing the stationery section, letting Audrey pick her favorites. Seeing her excitement as she chose her items was priceless. Sometimes, the simplest gifts bring the most joy.
Day 2: December 29, 2024 – Lunch with Family & Friends
The next day, we hosted a simple lunch with our immediate family and Audrey’s best friends. We wanted an intimate gathering where Audrey could spend time with the people she loves most.
We held the lunch at The Good Food MNL, a cozy little café that can accommodate less than 20 people—just the right size for a simple celebration.
What I loved about this place is that they arranged a simple table setup for us. No fuss, just a clean, charming arrangement that felt warm and personal.
Here’s what we had on the menu:
After lunch, we took the kids to Playtown Kids Café, a nearby play area that’s perfect for burning off post-lunch energy.
The entrance fee was Php 600 for unlimited play with one adult, and an extra adult was Php 100.
Audrey and her friends enjoyed every minute of it—sliding, climbing, and exploring the play area. I love these kinds of places because they let kids have fun while parents can relax and chat.
Was it a big, Pinterest-worthy party? Nope.
Did Audrey feel special and loved? Absolutely!
This year’s celebration was simple but intentional. We focused on spending quality time with Audrey, doing things she truly enjoys. And you know what? That’s what matters most.
Dee and I promised to make it up to her with a grand 7th birthday party, but honestly, I think Audrey loved this quiet celebration just as much. Sometimes, it’s the little things—like playtime, stickers, and family lunches—that leave the biggest mark on a child’s heart.
