Kinaiyahan Forest Park: A Bohol Eco-Tourism Stop Worth Adding to Your Family Itinerary

Not every stop in Bohol needs to be packed with tourists to be worth your time. Kinaiyahan Forest Park in Bilar is proof of that. It’s not on everyone’s radar and honestly, that’s part of what makes it a good visit, especially if you’re traveling to Bohol with kids and want something slower and more grounded than the usual tour circuit.

Our Experience

We arrived around 12:30 in the afternoon, and it was hot. The kind of midday heat that makes you question every decision you’ve made that day. But the moment we stepped inside, the shade from the bamboos helped, and the pace of the place made it easier to settle in.

What struck me first was how alive the park felt. Peacocks roamed freely around the grounds. There were rabbits, a bearcat, parrots, chickens, and fish. These animals that Audrey immediately gravitated toward. It wasn’t a zoo setup. Everything felt open and natural, which I appreciated.

The Bamboo Walk was my favorite part. It’s an entire trail dedicated to different varieties of bamboo, complete with information boards and incredible bamboo structures built throughout.

It was genuinely interesting. It’s an educational experience that doesn’t feel forced. We walked through it slowly, read the signs, took photos, and it turned into one of those quiet, unhurried moments that you remember more than the rushed ones.

The bamboo architecture throughout the park is really well done. There’s a design and intention behind it that you don’t always see in local eco-parks. It made for great photos too, without having to try too hard.

For the kids, there are a few play areas, though I’ll be upfront… it’s not a playground-heavy destination. There isn’t a lot specifically built for young children to run around in. That said, the open space and the animals kept Audrey occupied and curious the whole time.

We had a quick snack at their snack area and the staff were genuinely attentive.

The crowd was light. Not many tourists, not many locals either. That surprised me, because the place deserves more visits than it seems to get. It was peaceful, well-maintained, and easy to enjoy without the noise of a big crowd.

About Kinaiyahan Forest Park

Kinaiyahan Forest Park is an eco-tourism destination in Barangay Zamora, Bilar, Bohol. It is  right in the center of the island. The park is home to a wide variety of plants and animals, forest trails, scenic views, and open picnic areas. It’s designed for visitors who want to slow down and actually experience nature rather than just pass through it.

Beyond the animals and the Bamboo Walk, the park has areas set up for bird watching, hiking, and just sitting in the middle of the forest without any noise. If you’re into photography, the bamboo structures and greenery give you a lot to work with.

The Jeep Adventure Ride and ATV trail is available for those who want a bit more action. It runs a 30-minute trail course, and you can book it solo or with a companion. The Calamay Boat Ride is another option, a 20-minute ride that adds a different view of the park’s surroundings.

Tickets and Rates

The entrance fee is PHP 250 per person for adults, and the good news is that PHP 50 of that is consumable at the restaurant; so you’re not paying the full amount just to walk in. Seniors and PWDs get a 20% discount. Kids above 3 feet tall are charged PHP 250, and children below 3 feet enter for free.

For the Jeep Adventure Ride or ATV, it’s PHP 500 for solo and PHP 750 for two riders on a 30-minute trail course. The Calamay Boat Ride is PHP 400 per boat for a 20-minute ride.

Planning Your Visit

Kinaiyahan Forest Park is open every day from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We arrived at 12:30 PM and still had enough time to walk through everything without rushing, though I’d recommend coming in the morning when it’s cooler. Midday heat in Bohol is no joke, and a lot of the experience involves walking outdoors.

It’s a good stop if you’re already doing the Bilar Man-Made Forest route, since both are in the same area. Works well for families traveling in Bohol who want a quieter activity between the bigger tourist destinations.

Wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and don’t skip the Bamboo Walk. It’s worth the time.
