Study Place near UST: HomeRoom Co-Working and Study Lounge

As a graduate student at University of Santo Tomas, I spend a lot of time looking for good study places near UST where I can work on my thesis proposal or prepare for presentations. Coffee shops are great, but sometimes I need more than just good coffee. I need real quiet and focus.

That’s when I found HomeRoom Co-Working and Study Lounge.

About HomeRoom Co-Working and Study Lounge

HomeRoom is a co-working and study lounge tucked away on the 3rd floor of Dioresa Plaza, right along Dapitan Street. It’s the building beside Jollibee, so it’s easy to locate once you know where to look. The space is designed for students and professionals who need a dedicated area to get work done without distractions.

They offer flexible study stations with affordable rates, strong WiFi, and all the essentials you need for a productive session. If you’re a UST student or anyone in the U-belt area looking for a place that’s more serious than a café but more relaxed than a library, this might be it.

Our Experience at HomeRoom Co-Working and Study Lounge

I didn’t book ahead. I just walked in one afternoon when I needed to finish a chapter for my thesis. They asked for a valid ID at the front desk.

The moment I stepped inside, I knew this was going to be different from the usual coffee shops near UST. It’s quiet. Really quiet. No loud conversations. No background music. You can only hear the sound of people typing and turning pages. If you’re someone who needs absolute silence to concentrate, this is your place.

The table was clean, spacious, and had enough room for my laptop, notebooks, and a cup of coffee. Speaking of coffee, they have free-flowing brewed coffee and tea in the pantry. I went back for refills more than once.

The WiFi was strong and stable. I didn’t experience any lag even while uploading files and doing research online. Every seat has a charging outlet, so I didn’t have to worry about my laptop dying halfway through my work.

One thing I noticed right away: bring a jacket. The aircon is cold, and if you’re like me and get chilly easily, you’ll want an extra layer. They do have blankets and pillows available for borrowing, but it’s first come, first served.

I stayed for five hours and paid ₱250. For the kind of focus I got, it was worth it.

Amenities at HomeRoom Co-Working and Study Lounge

What I love about HomeRoom is how complete the amenities are. You’re not just paying for a seat. You’re paying for a full study lounge experience.

Here’s what’s included in your rate: a designated work or study station, a charging outlet, strong WiFi, and unlimited brewed coffee, hot chocolate, or tea. You also get free black-and-white printing for the first three pages, which came in handy when I needed to print a reference for my paper.

There are also extras you can borrow for free on a first come, first served basis. I saw bookstands, desk lamps, recliner chairs, pillows, blankets, lockers, and even enclosed booths if you need privacy for a call or a small meeting. They also have a telephone, microwave, and mini fridge in the pantry area, which is great if you bring your own food.

For an additional fee, you can access the shower or print colored documents. I didn’t use these, but it’s good to know they’re there if you need them.

The space itself is divided into different zones. There’s a quiet zone for serious, focused work. There are collaborative areas for group projects or team meetings. And there are lounge areas if you want something more relaxed. I spent my time in the quiet zone, and it was exactly what I needed.
