Mother’s Day Staycation at Likod Bahay Cabin in DRT, Bulacan

Our family loves quick getaways, and for this year’s Mother’s Day, Dee and Aivanne planned a little surprise staycation in DRT, Bulacan. It wasn’t our usual out-of-town trip, but still far enough from Metro Manila to feel like a breather. I had no clue where we were going until that night, but as soon as we pulled into Likod Bahay Cabin, I knew it was going to be a relaxing one.

We met with the Reyes fam around 6PM and had dinner at Mesa in Ayala Malls Cloverleaf.

After dinner, we grabbed groceries. Just the basics like hotdog, bacon, snacks, beer, juice, and rice.

Then we drove straight to Bulacan. The roads weren’t the best. There were patches of rough roads, and we had to drive carefully, but it added a bit of adventure to the whole thing.

We arrived at Likod Bahay Cabin around 11PM. The caretaker greeted us and we settled in quickly. The cabin is designed like a container van, but inside it’s solid. It’s made from steel, concrete, and surprisingly spacious. It has four double beds, two toilets and baths, a fully air-conditioned space, and even Wi-Fi, and Netflix. We were a group of six (four adults and two kids) and the space was enough, though I’d imagine it might feel a bit tight if you’re eight or more.

After resting for a bit, we checked out the plunge pool. It wasn’t cold, which we appreciated since it was already late at night. I swam with the kids for a bit while Dee, Ned, and Aivanne had a mini beer session by the outdoor area.

The next morning, we had breakfast and just lounged around. The kids were back in the pool. I stayed in the kitchen area, enjoying my coffee while staring at the greens surrounding the place. It really felt like we were tucked away somewhere peaceful, even if we were just a couple of hours from the city.

One of the things I liked most was the open setup of the outdoor kitchen. There’s a microwave, refrigerator, rice cooker, grill, and even an infrared stove. It had everything we needed for a quick overnight stay. No corkage fee, so we brought our own drinks and snacks. It’s also worth noting that the cabin is pet-friendly and comes with free parking for up to two vehicles.

Likod Bahay Cabin is a good pick if you’re looking for a private, low-key escape that doesn’t require a plane ticket or a long road trip. Just make sure to book early, especially if you’re eyeing a weekend or holiday. Also, manage your expectations, it’s not a luxury resort, but it’s clean, well-kept, and has all the basics covered.
