Arroz Valenciana Recipe

Aroz ala Valenciana is flavorful dish influenced by Spain to Filipino culture. The glutionous rice (malagkit) is cooked with coco milk, turmeric and seasonings. Meats like chicken and chorizo werre added. Raisins, bell pepper and green peas are added too. It is topped with sliced boiled egg for garnishing. This is commonly served on special occasions like fiesta or holiday. My simple version is perfect for everyday meal.

  • 5 cups of rice
  • 5 cups of water
  • 1 can of coco milk
  • oil
  • garlic & onion
  • 1 small bell pepper
  • 1 chorizo
  • 1/4 cup green peas
  • raisins (optional)
  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • salt & pepper
  • 3 tbsp patis
  • 1 sliced boiled egg

  1. First, I stir fry the bell pepper then set aside because I’ll use it for garnishing later
  2. Using the same oil and casserole, I sauteed the chorizo then set aside too.
  3. On the same casserole, I sauteed the onion and garlic I added the chicken and cook it until it turns brown
  4. Then put the washed rice and green peas
  5. Add the coconut milk and the seasonings
  6. Also add 5 cups of water
  7. Cook it on low heat like you normally cook a rice
  8. When it’s done, set it aside to cool down
  9. Enjoy!
